哀āi公gōng问wèn：“弟dì子zǐ孰shú为wéi好hào学xué？”孔kǒng子zǐ对duì曰yuē：“有yǒu颜yán回huí者zhě好hào学xué，不bù迁qiān怒nù，不bù贰èr过guò。不bù幸xìng短duǎn命mìng死sǐ矣yǐ。今jīn也yě则zé亡wú，未wèi闻wén好hào学xué者zhě也yě。”

1The Duke Ai asked which of the disciples loved to learn. Confucius replied to him, 'There was Yen Hui; HE loved to learn. He did not transfer his anger; he did not repeat a fault. Unfortunately, his appointed time was short and he died; and now there is not such another. I have not yet heard of any one who loves to learn as he did.'
